Greetings from Poland

Updated: Oct 18, 2022

On August 11th my plane took off as I began my new adventure in Poland. After a layover in Germany and of course a delicious pretzel I arrived in Poland. After I arrived my plans for the year changed. Instead of working in the preschool in Jaworzno, I will now be working at the other preschool in Czerwionka and living in the village I stayed for the years I was here for English Camp. I stayed the first two and a half weeks in Jaworzno working at the preschool and learning how the school is run. I began preparing lessons and learning more Polish along the way. On the weekends my new friends and I took adventures to Krakow and Katowice! I met some wonderful people in Jaworzno and even after just a few weeks it was hard to say goodbye.

On Wednesday all arrangements were finally made and I moved to Palowice. As we drove towards the town I have loved for many years I was filled with excitement! I quietly looked at each house and each street sign until I recognized where I was, home! Friends of mine have been gracious to house me and in conversations, I heard there was a long line of people who were willing to take me in. I’m so excited to start my life here!

The last few days I began working at the preschool in Czerwionka and met all of my students. I will be teaching 25 students this year from ages 2-6. I’m excited to begin teaching for the year. I will be the first native speaker to teach English at this school. I love the kids already and I can’t wait to get to know them more. I would appreciate prayer as I continue to plan lessons and begin teaching as well as safety and good communication throughout the year.

Thank you for all of the support and prayers throughout my first few weeks and I can’t wait to share more with you!
